Spirit Unveils Speciality Merch designed by Nicole Barnhart for Disability Awareness Day
Nicole Barnhart's designs aim to #MakeItVisible
New collection raises funds for Special Olympics and puts the spotlight on disability
Spirit Airlines today unveiled a new line of specialty merchandise designed by award-winning artist Nicole Barnhart. The collection aims to raise funds for Special Olympics and increase awareness about disability. The artist chose to partner with Spirit because of the company's long-standing commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
The new line features designs created by Barnhart, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. Her designs are inspired by her own experiences with disability and her passion for advocating for others. The collection includes t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and accessories, all featuring Barnhart's signature style and powerful messages.
100% of profits from the collection will be donated to Special Olympics, the world's largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities and their families. The donation will support Special Olympics programs across the country, including sports training, competition, health screenings, and leadership development.
“I am so excited to partner with Spirit on this collection,” said Barnhart. “My goal is to use my art to make disability visible and to challenge stereotypes. I hope that this collection will help to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics, and that it will inspire others to embrace their own unique abilities.”
Spirit Airlines is committed to accessibility and inclusion for all. The company has a long history of working with organizations that support people with disabilities. Spirit was the first airline to offer a dedicated website for passengers with disabilities. The company also offers a variety of services to assist passengers with disabilities, including wheelchair assistance, priority boarding, and accessible seating.
“We are proud to partner with Nicole Barnhart on this important collection,” said Spirit Airlines President and CEO Ted Christie. “Nicole's designs are not only beautiful, but they also send a powerful message about inclusion and acceptance. We hope that this collection will help to raise awareness about disability and inspire others to embrace their own unique abilities.”
The Nicole Barnhart for Spirit collection is now available for purchase on the Spirit Airlines website. To learn more about Special Olympics, please visit www.specialolympics.org.
