Rogers gets a breather

Detroit Tigers catcher Jake Rogers will not play Friday against the Baltimore Orioles. Manager A.J. Hinch said Rogers is “a little beat up '' and will get a day off.

Rogers has been a key contributor for the Tigers

Rogers is batting .250 with four home runs and 18 RBIs in 49 games this season. He has also thrown out 10 of 24 attempted base stealers (41.7%).

Backup catcher Tucker Barnhart will start in Rogers' place

Tucker Barnhart will start in Rogers' place Friday. Barnhart is batting .222 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 43 games this season.
