MPC's animation brings “A Monster Calls” to life
Subtle performances shine in visually stunning film
MPC Film’s animation department stepped up to the challenge of animating emotional close-up performances for the lead character of Conor in the new film, “A Monster Calls”.
The film tells the story of a young boy who befriends a monster who helps him to cope with his mother's illness and his own grief. MPC’s animation team was responsible for creating the monster, as well as the film's other visual effects.
The monster is a complex character, and MPC's animators had to capture his full range of emotions, from sadness and anger to joy and love. They also had to create a character that was both believable and visually stunning.
MPC's team used a variety of techniques to bring the monster to life, including motion capture, keyframe animation, and procedural animation. They also worked closely with the film's director, J.A. Bayona, to ensure that the monster's performance was in line with his vision for the film.
The result is a visually stunning film that is both emotionally engaging and thought-provoking. MPC's animation team has created a monster that is both believable and sympathetic, and their work is a major contribution to the film's success.
