At Least a Dozen Colorado Ballots Were Stolen and Fraudulently Filled Out in Mesa County, Officials Say

Officials in Mesa County, Colorado, are investigating a scheme in which at least a dozen ballots were stolen and fraudulently filled out.

The ballots were reportedly stolen from a mailbox in Fruita, Colorado, and then filled out and mailed back to the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder's Office.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, and the Colorado Secretary of State's Office is also monitoring the situation.

The Mesa County Clerk and Recorder's Office has released a statement saying that they are “aware of the situation and are working with law enforcement to investigate.”

The office also said that they are “confident in the integrity of the election process” and that “there is no evidence to suggest that the fraudulent ballots would have changed the outcome of the election.”

The stolen ballots were reportedly for the 2022 midterm election, which was held on November 8, 2022.

The election results in Mesa County have been certified, and the winning candidates have been sworn into office.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the stolen ballots to contact them at (970) 244-3525.
