Pakistan cricket team has pulled off a remarkable victory over England in the first Test match of the three-match series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Pakistan chased down the target of 343 runs on the final day, winning the match by seven wickets and taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first and restricted England to a total of 657 runs in their first innings. England in response bowled out Pakistan for 579 in their first innings. In the second innings, England were bowled out for 264, setting Pakistan a target of 343 to win. Pakistan reached the target in the final session of the match on the fifth and final day.

Imam-ul-Haq was the star performer for Pakistan with the bat, scoring a magnificent 157 in the first innings and 60 in the second innings. Captain Babar Azam also made a significant contribution with the bat, scoring 136 in the first innings. Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan were also among the runs for Pakistan. For England, Ollie Pope scored a century in the first innings while skipper Ben Stokes and Joe Root made half-centuries.

The win also marks the first time Pakistan has chased down a target of over 300 in the fourth innings of a Test match.
