Dana White Tells Ankalaev His UFC 308 Fight 'Must Be a Good Fight' for Title Shot
Ankalaev Seeks Shot at Pereira
Dana White has outlined the expectations for Magomed Ankalaev's upcoming fight at UFC 308. The Russian light heavyweight contender will face Jan Blachowicz in a pivotal matchup, with the winner likely to earn a title shot against reigning champion Alex Pereira.
Ankalaev has been on a dominant run in recent years, winning eight fights in a row, including impressive victories over Thiago Santos and Anthony Smith. However, White has made it clear that Ankalaev needs to put on a spectacular performance against Blachowicz.
White's Comments
“I think Ankalaev has got to go out there and have a great fight,” White said. “He's got to win the fight, but he's got to win the fight in a way that makes people say, 'This guy is ready for a title shot.'
“He's got to go out there and put on a show. He's got to finish Blachowicz. He's got to do something that makes people go, 'Wow, this guy is the real deal.'
“I think he's got the potential to do it, but he's got to go out there and prove it.”
Ankalaev's Response
Ankalaev has welcomed White's challenge and is confident that he can deliver an impressive performance against Blachowicz.
“I'm ready for this fight,” Ankalaev said. “I'm going to go out there and show the world what I'm made of.
“I'm going to put on a great fight and win the title shot.”
Blachowicz – A Tough Test
Blachowicz will be a tough test for Ankalaev. The Polish powerhouse is a former UFC light heavyweight champion and holds notable victories over Luke Rockhold, Dominick Reyes, and Israel Adesanya.
However, Ankalaev is confident that he has the skills and determination to overcome Blachowicz and earn his shot at the UFC light heavyweight title.
