Ландо Норрис: В гонке будет сложно, но мы на хорошей позиции
McLaren’s Lando Norris: ‘It’s going to be tough but we’re in a good position’
Norris aiming for first podium of the season as he looks to build on strong start to the year
McLaren’s Lando Norris is confident he can challenge for a podium finish in Sunday’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, despite expecting a “tough” race at Imola.
The British driver has finished in the points in all three races so far this season, with a best result of fifth in the Australian Grand Prix.
And Norris believes he can go one better this weekend, particularly with both Red Bull drivers, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, penalized on the grid for impeding other drivers in qualifying.
“It’s going to be tough, but we’re in a good position,” Norris said. “We’ve got a good car, and I think we can fight for a podium if we do everything right.”
Norris will start the race in fifth place, behind the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, and the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz.
But he is confident he can make up ground on the opening lap, and he is also expecting to be strong on the medium tires.
“I think we have a good race car, and I think we can do well on the medium tires,” Norris said. “I think we can make up some ground on the opening lap, and then we’ll see what we can do from there.
“It’s going to be a long race, but I’m up for the challenge.”
