Hemp and Shaw Reflect on 'Dream' Ballon d'Or Nominations

England and Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden and Manchester United forward Alessia Russo have been nominated for the 2023 Ballon d'Or awards.

Foden is one of 30 nominees for the men's award, while Russo is one of 20 nominees for the women's award.

This is the first time that either player has been nominated for the prestigious award.

Foden told BBC Sport: “It's a dream come true to be nominated for the Ballon d'Or. I've always wanted to win this award, and I'm so grateful to be in the running.”

Russo said: “It's an honor to be nominated for the Ballon d'Or. It's a testament to the hard work I've put in, and I'm so proud to represent England and Manchester United on this stage.”

The Ballon d'Or is awarded to the best male and female footballers in the world, as voted for by a panel of journalists.

The winners of the 2023 Ballon d'Or awards will be announced on October 17.

Foden has been in excellent form for Manchester City this season, scoring 8 goals and providing 9 assists in all competitions.

He has also been a key player for England, helping the team to reach the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Russo has also been in impressive form for Manchester United this season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions.

She was also part of the England team that won the 2022 UEFA Women's Championship.

Both Foden and Russo are considered to be among the best young players in the world.

They are both expected to have long and successful careers at the highest level.

The Ballon d'Or nominations are a recognition of the talent and hard work of both players.
