Mikhail Kotyukov took part in a strategic session on the development of engineering education chaired by Mikhail Mishustin.

Assessment of the current state and prospects for the development of engineering education

On August 3, 2023, Mikhail Kotyukov, rector of ETU “LETI”, took part in a strategic session on the development of engineering education in Russia, chaired by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.

The main topics of the discussion were the assessment of the current state and prospects for the development of engineering education in Russia – the training of highly qualified personnel for the implementation of priority technological projects and ensuring the technological sovereignty of the country.

The participants of the strategic session discussed topical issues in this area: the need to update educational programs, taking into account modern requirements of the labor market; the development of a system of continuous engineering education; the creation of a modern educational and laboratory base; the development of scientific and innovative activities, etc.

ETU “LETI” initiatives in the field of engineering education

Mikhail Kotyukov presented the experience of ETU “LETI” in the implementation of innovative educational programs in the field of electronics, electrical engineering, optics, IT, and telecommunications; the development of academic mobility programs, including double degree programs with leading foreign universities.

Mikhail Kotyukov noted that ETU “LETI” is actively working to create a modern educational environment for the training of highly qualified engineering personnel, including the development of new educational programs, the creation of a modern laboratory base, and the implementation of innovative teaching methods.

The rector of ETU “LETI” also spoke about the university's initiatives in the field of the development of scientific and innovative activities, including the creation of a Nanotechnology Research and Education Center, the opening of an Engineering Center for the Development of Robotics and Sensor Technologies, and the implementation of the Leading Research Center program.

Strategic areas for the development of engineering education in Russia

Following the results of the strategic session, the participants outlined the main strategic areas for the development of engineering education in Russia, including:

  • Updating educational programs to meet modern requirements of the labor market
  • Updating the content of engineering education to meet the needs of the digital economy
  • Introducing innovative teaching methods and technologies
  • Developing a system of continuous engineering education
  • Creating a modern educational and laboratory base
  • Developing scientific and innovative activities
  • Increasing the level of international cooperation in the field of engineering education

ETU “LETI” will continue to actively participate in the implementation of these initiatives, contributing to the development of engineering education in Russia and the training of highly qualified engineering personnel for the country's economy.
