Jordan Matthews Promoted, Panthers Reinforce Receiver and Corner Depth Going into Week 9
Panthers Announce Roster Moves
Ahead of their Week 9 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Carolina Panthers have announced a series of roster moves to bolster their receiving and cornerback depth.
Most notably, the Panthers have promoted wide receiver Jordan Matthews to the active roster from the practice squad.
Matthews Provides Veteran Presence
Matthews, a two-time Pro Bowler with previous experience in Philadelphia and San Francisco, brings a veteran presence and proven production to the Panthers' receiving corps.
His presence is especially valuable given the recent injuries to Robbie Anderson and Rashard Higgins.
Cornerback Depth Strengthened
In addition to promoting Matthews, the Panthers also signed cornerback Tae Hayes from the practice squad and waived cornerback Kalon Barnes.
Hayes adds depth to a Carolina secondary that has been hit by injuries this season, including Jaycee Horn, Donte Jackson, and CJ Henderson.
Matthews Expected to Play
According to head coach Matt Rhule, Matthews is expected to play a significant role in the team's offense on Sunday against the Bengals.
His experience and versatility will be crucial for the Panthers as they look to improve their 3-5 record.
