Seahawks activate George Fant from injured reserve
Backup tackle returns from calf injury to boost Seahawks’ offensive line
The Seattle Seahawks have activated backup tackle George Fant from injured reserve after he missed the team’s first three games of the regular season.
Fant was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 24 with a calf injury, but he has been practicing with the team for the past two weeks and is now healthy enough to return to game action.
Fant’s return is a boost to the Seahawks’ offensive line, which has been struggling to protect quarterback Russell Wilson this season. The Seahawks have allowed 10 sacks in their first three games, which is tied for the most in the NFL.
Fant is a versatile lineman who can play both tackle and guard. He started 10 games for the Seahawks last season and played well in both the running and passing games.
With Fant back in the lineup, the Seahawks will have more depth and experience on their offensive line. He is expected to back up starting right tackle Brandon Shell, but he could also see some time at left tackle if starter Duane Brown is injured.
The Seahawks are hoping that Fant’s return will help them improve their offensive line play and protect Wilson better. The Seahawks are 1-2 this season and will face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday Night Football in Week 4.
