Postecoglou Talks Up Dragusin After Spurs Forced Into Defence Rejig

Celtic manager hails towering defender's impact as Hoops hold firm against Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou was full of praise for young defender Dragusin after the Romanian helped Celtic secure a creditable draw against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old, who is on loan from Juventus, was drafted into the starting line-up after Cameron Carter-Vickers was ruled out through injury.

And Dragusin did not disappoint, producing a commanding performance at the heart of Celtic's defence as they kept Tottenham at bay for long spells.

Dragusin's Impressive Display

Dragusin was a colossus in the Celtic defence, winning aerial duels, making crucial tackles and blocks, and generally making life difficult for the Tottenham attackers.

He was particularly impressive in the second half, as Tottenham pushed for a winner.

Dragusin's performance was all the more impressive given that he was playing out of position.

Postecoglou's Praise

Postecoglou was quick to praise Dragusin after the game, saying that he was “very happy” with the young defender's performance.

“He's a young player with a lot of potential,” said Postecoglou.

“He's still learning and developing, but he showed tonight that he has the quality to play at this level.”

Tottenham's Defensive Woes

Tottenham's defensive woes were compounded by the absence of Cristian Romero, who was serving a suspension.

In Romero's absence, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte was forced to field a makeshift defence, with Eric Dier partnering Davinson Sanchez at centre-back.

The makeshift defence struggled to cope with Celtic's attacking threat, and the Hoops could have easily won the game had they been more clinical in front of goal.
