North Texas Sees Flash Flooding on Roads

Heavy Rains Cause Water to Rise Quickly

Heavy rains in North Texas caused flash flooding on roads Tuesday morning, stranding drivers and closing roads. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for parts of North Texas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington.

The rain began falling around 6 a.m. and quickly caused water to rise on roads. Several roads were closed due to high water, including Interstate 30 west of Dallas and State Highway 114 in Arlington.

Drivers Stranded

The flash flooding stranded several drivers on roads. Some drivers were able to get out of their cars and walk to safety, while others had to be rescued by emergency crews.

No injuries have been reported, but the flooding caused significant delays for commuters. The National Weather Service is urging drivers to avoid driving through flooded areas.

What to Do If You Encounter Flooding

If you encounter flooding, the National Weather Service recommends that you:

  • Turn around and find an alternate route.
  • Do not drive through flooded areas.
  • If you must drive through a flooded area, drive slowly and carefully.
  • Be aware of the possibility of downed power lines and other hazards.

More Rain Expected

The National Weather Service is forecasting more rain for North Texas later today. The rain is expected to be lighter than the rain that fell this morning, but it could still cause additional flooding.

Residents are urged to be aware of the possibility of flooding and to take precautions if necessary.
