Yazguly Hojageldyyew: Participation in AFC Champions League 2 is a good experience for Altyn Asyr

Turkmen football club Altyn Asyr has finished its performance in the AFC Champions League 2, losing to Tajikistan's Istiklol in the play-off round.

Despite the defeat, the head coach of Altyn Asyr, Yazguly Hojageldyyew, believes that participation in the tournament was a good experience for his team.

“We played against strong opponents and gained valuable experience,” Hojageldyyew said. “We will use this experience to improve our performance in the future.”

Altyn Asyr finished third in its group in the AFC Champions League 2, behind Istiklol and Nasaf of Uzbekistan. The Turkmen club then lost to Istiklol in the play-off round, ending its hopes of advancing to the group stage of the AFC Champions League.

Despite the disappointing result, Hojageldyyew believes that his team has made progress in recent years. “We have a young team with a lot of potential,” he said. “We are confident that we can achieve success in the future.”

Altyn Asyr will now turn its attention to the Turkmen Higher League, where it is currently in second place. The club will also compete in the AFC Cup, the second-tier club competition in Asia, later this year.
