Death Stranding's Director's Cut is coming to XBOX Game Pass
Releasing in late March 2023
The extended cut of Kojima Productions' open-world post-apocalyptic game will be making its way to XBOX Game Pass. The game will drop on the service on March 31st, according to an advertisement shown during last night's XBOX and Bethesda Developer_Direct Showcase.
A Death Stranding sequel is already in the works
The recent announcement follows up on the news earlier this month that a sequel to Death Stranding is in development at Kojima Productions, with Norman Reedus set to return to the role of Sam Bridges. Hideo Kojima also teased that the sequel would be a “radical departure” from the original.
Death Stranding was a PlayStation-exclusive at launch
The original Death Stranding was released in 2019 on PS4 and later ported to PC in 2020 and to PS5 in 2021. The Director's Cut, which includes new content such as a new story chapter, new weapons, and vehicles, was released on PS5 in September 2021.
The addition of Death Stranding: Director's Cut to Xbox Game Pass makes sense since Kojima Productions and Xbox appear to be working more closely together. Kojima Productions recently announced that one of its studios is working with Microsoft on a cloud-based game.
Death Stranding is a unique open-world game that follows the journey of Sam Bridges, a porter tasked with delivering supplies to isolated cities in a post- apocalyptic world. The game was praised for its innovative gameplay, stunning graphics, and thought-provoking story.
If you're an XBOX Game Pass subscriber, you'll be able to experience Death Stranding: Director's Cut for yourself when it launches on March 31st. If you're not a subscriber, you can sign up for a free trial to check out the game.
