Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday inaugurated the 'Kitab Mahotsav' (book festival) at the park situated on the banks of river Gomti.

The 10-day festival, organised by the Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan, will hold events such as 'kavi sammelan' (poets meet), 'katha-pravachan' (storytelling), 'pustak-vimochan' (book release) and 'lekhak-gosthi' (authors' meet).

Speaking on the occasion, Adityanath said the book fair is a platform for book lovers and authors to connect with each other and share their thoughts and ideas.

“This festival will not only promote reading habits among the people but also provide a platform to the authors to showcase their work,” he said.

The chief minister also released a book titled 'Uttar Pradesh: Ek Parichay' (Uttar Pradesh: An Introduction) on the occasion.

Hindi Sansthan director Ramji Lal said the book fair will have stalls of over 100 publishers from across the country.

“We are expecting over 1 lakh people to visit the fair during the 10-day period,” he said.
