Akhilesh Yadav lashes out at the Yogi government, demands judicial inquiry into the Kanpur violence
Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday addressed a press conference at the party office in Lucknow.
He fiercely attacked the Yogi government over the Kanpur violence and demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident.
Yadav alleged that the BJP government in the state is trying to suppress the voice of the opposition and is playing politics over the issue of violence.
He said, “The government is trying to suppress the voice of the opposition. They are not allowing us to raise our voice against the atrocities being committed on the people of the state.”
Yadav also demanded a judicial inquiry into the Kanpur violence.
He said, “We demand a judicial inquiry into the Kanpur violence. The truth should come out and the guilty should be punished.”
The Kanpur violence erupted on June 3 over a dispute over the installation of a religious flag.
At least three people were killed and several others were injured in the violence.
The police have arrested several people in connection with the violence.
The Samajwadi Party has been demanding a judicial inquiry into the incident.
The party has also alleged that the BJP government in the state is trying to suppress the voice of the opposition.
