GTA 5's Key Actor Thought the Game Was ****** (Bad) for a Whole Year, Wasn't Told What Project He Was Working On

Steven Ogg Thought He Was Working for Rockstar Thanks to GTA 5's High Level of Secrecy

Steven Ogg, who played Trevor Philips in the smash-hit title Grand Theft Auto 5, has revealed that he thought the game was ****** (bad) for a whole year. The reason? Rockstar Games kept the project a closely guarded secret and failed to tell him what game he was working on.

Ogg only discovered the true nature of the project when he saw a billboard for GTA 5 while driving down Sunset Boulevard. He said, “I was like, 'Oh, that's what I've been working on for the last year.' You know, they had a lot of secrecy around it. Nobody would tell me what the project was.”

Rockstar's Secrecy Helped GTA 5 Become a Phenomenal Success

Rockstar Games' high level of secrecy around GTA 5 paid off handsomely, as the game went on to become one of the best-selling video games of all time. The game has sold over 155 million copies worldwide and generated over $6 billion in revenue.

However, Ogg admitted to feeling frustrated at times by not knowing what project he was working on. He said, “I was like, 'What am I doing? This is ****** (bad).' And then I see the billboard, and I'm like, 'Oh, okay, that's what I've been working on.' It was a little bit of a mindf***.”

Despite his initial misgivings, Ogg eventually came to appreciate the secrecy surrounding GTA 5. He said, “I think it's important to keep things secret sometimes. It builds anticipation and excitement. And in the case of GTA 5, it definitely worked.”
