Top manager of Rostelecom arrested for two months in embezzlement case

The head of the engineering group of the Svyazkomplekt branch of PJSC Rostelecom, Mikhail Kurbatov, was arrested for two months.

This was reported by a TASS correspondent in court.

Earlier, the press service of the Basmanny court of Moscow reported that the court had chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention until November 22 against Kurbatov, who is charged with embezzlement on an especially large scale.

According to the investigation, Kurbatov, being the head of the engineering group of the Svyazkomplekt branch of PJSC Rostelecom, on November 6, 2020, entered into an agreement with the general director of one of the commercial organizations for the supply of telecommunication equipment under a fictitious contract. The cost of the contract amounted to more than 110 million rubles.

According to the investigation, in pursuance of the agreement, the head of the engineering group ensured the transfer of funds from Svyazkomplekt to the accounts of the commercial organization, while the supply of telecommunications equipment was not carried out.

The amount of damage caused by the defendants' actions exceeded 110 million rubles.

Rostelecom did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
