Uzbekistan’s Fayzullaev Scored Two Goals for His Team’s First Win

Uzbekistan international striker Faysal Fayzullaev scored twice to help his country to their first win in Group C qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Fayzullaev’s goals came in either half of Tuesday’s match against Bulgaria in Sofia, with the forward scoring first in the 15th minute and then again just past the hour-mark.

The 24-year-old’s brace made him Uzbekistan’s joint-top scorer in World Cup qualifiers with seven goals, level with Server Djeparov. Uzbekistan’s victory moved them up to third place in Group C, which is led by Italy. Bulgaria is last with just two points.

Fayzullaev leads Uzbekistan to victory

Fayzullaev has now scored three goals in his last two appearances for Uzbekistan. The former Bunyodkor forward also scored the winner in a friendly against Tajikistan last month.

Uzbekistan’s victory was their first in four matches in all competitions. They had previously drawn with Bulgaria and Norway before losing to Italy in their last outing. Uzbekistan will be looking to build on this victory when they face Lithuania in a friendly on October 11
