Julio Cascante to Join Costa Rica for November Matches
Costa Rica announced its squad for the upcoming friendlies against Peru and Colombia.
Deportivo Saprissa defender Julio Cascante has been included in the Costa Rica squad for the upcoming friendlies against Peru and Colombia. Cascante has been in impressive form for Saprissa this season, helping the club to the top of the Costa Rican league table.
The 28-year-old defender has also been a regular for the Costa Rica national team in recent years, making 25 appearances for his country. He was part of the Costa Rica squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Cascante is one of several Deportivo Saprissa players who have been called up to the Costa Rica squad for the upcoming friendlies.
Goalkeeper Kevin Briceño, defender Ricardo Blanco, and midfielder Marvin Angulo have also been included in the squad. Cascante and his Deportivo Saprissa teammates will be hoping to help Costa Rica to a successful series of friendlies as they prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Costa Rica will face Peru on November 16th in Lima, before taking on Colombia on November 19th in San José.
The two friendlies will be Costa Rica's last matches of the year as they prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar from November 21st to December 18th.
Costa Rica has been drawn into Group E for the World Cup, alongside Spain, Germany, and Japan. The Ticos will be hoping to make it out of the group stage for the third time in their history.
