“My thought process and motivation have always been team first,” Rahul said in an interview to PTI.
“I don't think about personal milestones or achievements. I just want to contribute to the team's success in whatever way I can,” he added.
Rahul, who led Lucknow Super Giants to the playoffs in their debut season last year, said that he is not thinking about the upcoming IPL auction and is instead focused on the upcoming season with Lucknow Super Giants.
“The IPL auction is still some time away. I am not thinking about it right now. My focus is on the upcoming season with Lucknow Super Giants,” Rahul said.
“We had a good season last year and we want to build on that this year. We have a good team and we are confident of doing well,” he added.
Rahul, who has been a part of the Indian team since 2014, has played 103 T20Is and has scored 2,265 runs at an average of 38.41 and a strike rate of 140.44.
He has also played 42 ODIs and has scored 1,836 runs at an average of 46.90 and a strike rate of 88.24.
Rahul is one of the most consistent batters in the world and is a key player for both India and Lucknow Super Giants.
