Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx Team Up For Netflix Action-Comedy
Diaz and Foxx Reunite for First Film in Over a Decade
Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx are teaming up for a new Netflix action-comedy, their first film together since 2014's “Annie.” The untitled film will be directed by Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses,” “Baywatch”) and written by Brendan O'Brien (“Neighbors,” “Bad Moms”).
Diaz will play a retired CIA agent who is forced to team up with her former partner (Foxx) to take down a ruthless villain. The film is expected to begin production in the fall of 2023.
Diaz Returns to the Big Screen After Eight-Year Hiatus
Diaz has not starred in a film since 2014's “Annie,” and her return to the big screen is highly anticipated. In recent years, she has focused on her family and her wellness brand, Goop.
Foxx has remained active in Hollywood, starring in films such as “Baby Driver” (2017), “Robin Hood” (2018), and “Project Power” (2020).
Netflix Continues to Invest in Action-Comedies
Netflix has been investing heavily in action-comedies in recent years, with films such as “Red Notice” (2021), “The Adam Project” (2022), and “The Gray Man” (2022) all performing well for the streamer.
The untitled Diaz-Foxx film is expected to be a major release for Netflix, and it could help to solidify the streamer's position as a leader in the action-comedy genre.
