In St. Petersburg, the winners of the Golden Sofit award were awarded
The ceremony took place at the Alexandrinsky Theater
On May 29, at the Alexandrinsky Theater, the Golden Sofit award ceremony was held. This award is given to the best theater performances of the season. The jury, headed by theater critic Marina Dmukhovskaya, evaluated more than 500 performances from various St. Petersburg theaters.
The winners of the Golden Sofit award
The main prize in the nomination “Best Drama Performance” was given to the play “The Cherry Orchard” by the Bolshoi Drama Theater. The best comedy was recognized as the play “The Inspector General” by the Theater of Europe. The best musical was the play “Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street” by the St. Petersburg Theater of Musical Comedy.
The winners in other nominations were:
- Best Director: Andrei Moguchy for the play “The Cherry Orchard”
- Best Actor: Sergey Makovetsky for his role in the play “The Cherry Orchard”
- Best Actress: Ksenia Rappoport for her role in the play “The Seagull”
- Best Supporting Actor: Oleg Basilashvili for his role in the play “The Cherry Orchard”
- Best Supporting Actress: Marina Neyolova for her role in the play “The Seagull”
The Golden Sofit award is one of the most prestigious theater awards in Russia. It is awarded annually since 1993. The award is given to the best theater performances of the season, as well as to individual artists and theater workers.
