Just a day later, the team introduced Mike Vrabel as their 16th head coach in franchise history. </p> <p> Vrabel comes to New England after four successful seasons as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans. In four seasons in Tennessee, he led the Titans to a 43-26 record, three playoff appearances, two AFC South division championships, and one AFC Championship Game appearance. </p> <p> Mike Vrabel has a reputation for being a tough and demanding coach, but he also has a reputation for getting the most out of his players. He is expected to bring a similar approach to New England, where he will be tasked with leading one of the most successful franchises in all of professional sports. </p> <h3> Additions To The Coaching Staff </h3> <p> Vrabel brought several assistants with him from Tennessee, including offensive coordinator Todd Downing, defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, and special teams coordinator Craig Aukerman. </p> <p> While Vrabel has not named his entire coaching staff, he has filled some key positions. He named Matt Patricia as his senior football advisor. Patricia was previously the head coach of the Detroit Lions. He also named Jerod Mayo as his defensive play-caller. Mayo played for the Patriots from 2008-16, before retiring and joining the coaching staff in 2019. </p>
